Any structural work required is likely to be used as a bargaining point for house buyers. Our research shows that over two-thirds of would-be buyers would haggle over the price of a home needing new windows (56%) or roof repairs (76%), while around half would seek to renegotiate on an outdated kitchen (53%) or bathroom (47%), according to the report by myredlandroof.co.uk.
Samantha Baden, property analyst at FindaProperty.com said: “A house that needs a new roof or major structural work is a big deal in property terms and buyers are likely to use this as a reason to try to get the price down. At a time when the property market is not moving as quickly as it could be, sellers need to do all they can to improve the appeal of their home and to reassure potential buyers that it represents good value for money.”
